1. You tell us about the room
Call 020 7946 0123 or send the short form. We need your postcode, the type of job and a way to reach you. A line about timing helps too: whether you want the work done next month, or you're planning around a family event, a sale or a hospital discharge.
You don't need to know the technical words. "The shower leaks and the tiles are cracked" or "Mum can't get into the bath any more" is enough to match you with the right fitter.
2. One vetted local fitter gets in touch
Your enquiry goes to one fitter who covers your part of the borough and takes on that type of work, not to a list of firms who all ring at once. Before a fitter is referred, we check:
- Proof of public liability insurance, re-checked when the policy renews
- Gas Safe registration where the work involves gas
- Competent-person registration for electrical work, or a registered electrician brought in
- References from two recent bathroom jobs
- A traceable business with a fixed address
If a homeowner reports a problem, referrals to that fitter are paused while we look into it.
3. A free survey and an itemised written quote
The fitter visits, measures the room and checks what decides the price: where the soil stack is, the water pressure and hot water system, the condition of the floor and walls, and access for materials and a skip. They talk through layout options and products, and then send a written quote.
A good quote lists strip-out and waste, plumbing and electrics, boarding and waterproofing, tiling, the suite or a note that you're supplying it, second fix, making good, VAT and payment stages. Our bathroom costs guide shows typical 2026 price ranges and how to compare quotes like for like.
4. You decide
There is no obligation. If you go ahead, you agree the price, dates, payment stages and any guarantee directly with the fitter, and your contract is with them. If you don't, that's the end of it. Nothing is charged for the survey or the quote.
5. The work, and afterwards
Most straightforward refits take five to ten working days on site; a layout change or a wet room takes longer. Ask for electrical certificates under Part P and any building control sign-off where the work needs it, and keep the guarantee paperwork with your house documents.
If something goes wrong with a fitter we referred, call 020 7946 0123. Read more about the service, see the bathroom services fitters take on, or check the areas we cover.
